Associate Attorney – Criminal Defense

Posted April 2, 2026

Associate Attorney – Criminal Defense

Location: Pueblo, CO (Principal Office) Position Type: Full-Time

About the Role

Garcia Gutierrez Law Group is seeking a relentless, strategic, and “Bold” Associate Attorney to join our criminal defense practice. In this role, you won’t just be practicing law—you will be a partner to our clients during the most challenging moments of their lives. You will handle a diverse caseload ranging from municipal traffic matters and DUIs to complex state and federal felonies.

Our ideal candidate is a litigator who thrives in the courtroom, possesses a “refuse-to-lose” attitude, and maintains a 79% mindset—striving for dismissals and protecting our clients’ futures at all costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Litigation & Advocacy: Represent clients in all stages of criminal proceedings, including arraignments, bond hearings, evidentiary hearings, and jury trials.

  • Case Management: Manage a full caseload from inception through resolution, ensuring meticulous attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.

  • Strategy Development: Conduct thorough legal research and investigations to develop innovative and aggressive defense strategies.

  • Client Relations: Provide compassionate, professional, and clear communication to clients, ensuring they feel supported and informed throughout the legal process.

  • Professional Defense: Assist in specialized cases involving law enforcement, military personnel, and medical professionals, focusing on both criminal outcomes and professional licensure protection.

  • Negotiation: Negotiate effectively with District Attorneys and Federal Prosecutors to secure the best possible outcomes for our clients.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD): From an accredited law school.

  • Licensure: Must be a member in good standing with the Colorado Bar (or eligible for immediate admission via reciprocity).

  • Experience: 2–5 years of experience in criminal defense or prosecution is preferred, but high-potential candidates with a passion for litigation will be considered.

  • Skills: * Exceptional oral advocacy and writing skills.

    • Ability to think quickly on your feet in a courtroom setting.

    • Strong empathetic communication skills for high-stress client interactions.

  • Values: You must align with our core pillars: Bold, Reliable, and Results-driven.

What We Offer

  • Mentorship: Work directly with a team boasting over 30 years of combined legal experience.

  • Autonomy: The opportunity to lead your own cases and gain significant courtroom hours.

  • Culture: A high-energy, collaborative environment where results are celebrated and client advocacy is the top priority.

  • Impact: A chance to protect the livelihoods of professionals and the rights of the Pueblo community.

How to Apply

If you are a “Trusted Advocate” ready to deliver “Proven Results,” please submit your resume, a brief writing sample (preferably a motion to suppress or similar trial motion), and a cover letter detailing your most successful defense outcome to aaron@gglawgroup.com.

Garcia Gutierrez Law Group is an equal opportunity employer. We protect your today for the future.
