CHBA en el Jardín Annual Banquet

Join the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association on Saturday, August 12 for our En el Jardín Annual Banquet. There will be dinner, dancing, awards, tequila tasting, and a silent auction benefiting CHBA Foundation scholarships. All event tickets include access to the Denver Botanic Gardens. Sponsorship opportunities and individual tickets are available now.

Volunteers Needed for Mi Casa Legal Clinics

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! The CHBA sponsored Mi Casa Legal Clinic is held at 345 S. Grove Street, Denver, Colorado 80219 on the second Tuesday of every month from 6-8 p.m. Sign up by emailing Angela Vichick at avichick@lewisroca.com with your available dates and/or a list of topics you are comfortable taking appointments on. Day-of drop in volunteers are always welcome, but advance notice and acceptance of subject matter assignments helps us to ensure that all requesting participants can be served.

Diversity in the Judiciary: Where Have We Been? Where Are We Now? Where Would We Like To Go? 

From talking the talk to walking the walk. What are we doing in Colorado to achieve true diversity in our judiciary? Come hear the perspectives of a diverse panel of judges during a lively panel discussion, as well as a report on the efforts of the Judicial Diversity Outreach Program of the Colorado Judicial Department, followed by a reception where judges and lawyers can get to know each other better in an informal, relaxed atmosphere. The CBA Litigation Section and the DBA Bench-Bar Committee invite you to join our panelists and other judges from our trial and appellate courts on Thursday July 20, 2023 from 4-6 p.m. (CLE program) and 6-7 p.m. (reception) at the Colorado Bar Association, 1290 Broadway, 17th Floor, Denver, CO 80203. The CHBA Judicial Taskforce and Governor’s Office of Legal Counsel will be providing a virtual, joint presentation on the judicial application process, including what qualities the Governor’s Office of Legal Counsel looks for in candidates and their role in the selection process.  The presentation will be remote and free to all CHBA members!

Foreclosure Defense Attorney

Our practice is seeking an attorney to help manage foreclosure and other housing-related cases and to represent or advise homeowners in these proceedings. The attorney will be responsible for representing clients in court, maintaining accurate case files, working with our paralegals and staff to meet all court requirements for each case and serving as a reliable advocate for our growing list of clients. A foreclosure defense attorney at CEDP will have a client-focused attitude and experience as a practicing attorney – Housing experience preferred but not required. The successful candidate will also have at least three years of litigation experience and proven success managing complex cases, along with a desire to work in a collaborative environment centered on social justice and equity. Any attorney hired for this role should be flexible, willing and able to adjust to the needs of the organization, including to support in eviction defense cases depending on team and organizational need. The successful candidate will also be willing to live in Colorado and to obtain admission to the Colorado bar.

Director of Colorado Office of Legislative Legal Services

The Colorado General Assembly seeks an experienced leader for the position of Director of the Office of Legislative Legal Services (OLLS). The OLLS is the nonpartisan legislative service agency that provides legal counsel and legislative bill drafting services to the Colorado General Assembly and all of its members. Statutes require that the Director must be an attorney-at-law. The Director is responsible for managing the sixty-person OLLS staff, including thirty attorneys; setting the vision
for the OLLS; providing assistance and legal advice to the legislative leadership, legislators, the Committee on Legal Services, and the General Assembly as an institution; coordinating litigation involving the Legislative Department; overseeing the publication of the Colorado Revised Statutes and the review of administrative rules; and performing any other duties assigned by the Committee on Legal Services or the legislative leadership.
