Judge Nathaniel Baca, CBA President, and CHBA Region 3 Representative, invited CHBA President Amber Gonzales to guest author the “President’s Message” in the October edition of Colorado Lawyer. “Latinos have been a part of the fabric of Colorado since before America became a nation in 1776,” yet, as Gonzales notes, “longevity has not begotten equality.” In her article, “Latinos in the Courtroom: A Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month,” Gonzales looks back at three landmark cases in which Latinos have used their power in the courtroom to fight for equality before the law.
