Lisabeth Pérez Castle
CHBA is thrilled to announce that Lisabeth Pérez Castle, a long-standing member, has been appointed Denver’s Independent Monitor. This position is responsible for providing oversight of the police, sheriffs, and investigatory fire officials. Following a unanimous decision of the Citizen Oversight Board, the City Council approved her appointment after leaving the position vacant for almost two years. Liz is not only the first woman to hold this position but also the first Independent Monitor of Latinx descent. During the public meetings with the finalists, Pérez Castle underlined the significance of collaboration and transparency between her office, disadvantaged communities, and law enforcement. Prior to this, she worked with the Colorado State Public Defender’s Office and also had her private practice in Denver since 2000. Please join CHBA in congratulating Liz on her incredible new role!
