Biography
Marla “Fatima” Fernandez is a bilingual paralegal and mediator with over 15 years of cross-disciplinary legal experience in Colorado, including family law, constitutional research, immigration support, and community-based access-to-justice work. She completed an ABA-approved paralegal certificate with 1L–2L–equivalent training and supplemented her education with non-degree graduate coursework at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in environmental and natural resources law. Fatima is currently expanding her work in legal empowerment, policy reform, and civic mediation, with particular interest in access to justice, due-process rights, and community education. She is seeking opportunities to collaborate with attorneys on litigation support, constitutional analysis, mediation, and pro se assistance for underserved communities.
Education
University of Denver, Sturm College of Law Graduate Legal Studies Coursework (Non-Degree, 2005–2006) – Environmental Law – Land Use Planning – Toxic Torts – Natural Resources Negotiation – Participated in JD-level hypotheticals and case-based analysis as part of legal training. Arapahoe Community College ABA-Accredited Paralegal Certificate (2007–2008) – Completed 1L & 2L-equivalent coursework including Legal Research, Writing, Constitutional Law I & II, Civil Litigation, ADR, Torts, Contracts, and Family Law.
