Congratulations

Posted Jan 11, 2023

Congratulations to CHBA Board Members Renee Doak and Nathaniel Baca, Past President Kathryn Starnella, and Retiring Judge Kathy Delgado!

This week two of CHBA’s regional representatives take on new roles on the bench.  Renee Doak, representative to CHBA’s Region 1 (Northern Colorado), has been appointed to the Weld County Court in the 19th Judicial District. The vacancy is created by the retirement of the Honorable Charles Unfug and is effective January 10th, 2023. Anthony Nathaniel Baca, representative to CHBA’s Region 3 (Western Colorado), has been appointed to a vacancy on the 6th Judicial District Court. The vacancy is created by the resignation of the Honorable Todd. P. Norvell and is effective January 14, 2023.

The U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado also recently announced its selection of Kathryn Starnella (CHBA Past President 2018) as U.S. Magistrate Judge. Kathryn will fill the vacancy created by Magistrate Judge Kristen Mix’s expected retirement in Aug. 2023.

Finally, the Honorable Kathy Delgado retires this week after 20 years of services as a 17th Judicial District Court Judge. Thank you, Judge Delgado, for paving the way for other so many other Latino judges who have followed.

Congratulations to all!

Continuing to diversify the Colorado bench is among CHBA’s top priorities.  CHBA’s Nominations and Endorsement Committee and Judicial Taskforce help to identify and prepare diverse candidates, endorse candidates showing a commitment to the Colorado Latino community, and retain diverse candidates already sitting on the bench.
