Alfred Harrell

Biography

Judge Harrell served as A Denver County Court Judge from November 22, 1985, to June 30, 2016. He has served that court as a Senior Judge from July 1, 2016, to the present. He is the longest serving Black judge in the history of Colorado. He is a graduate of the University of Colorado, 1966 and the College of Law at the University of Denver, 1971. Before Judge Harrell was appointed judge, he was a courtroom lawyer for 13 years. He worked for the Law Offices of Irving P. Andrews and the law firm of Pacheco, Auer and Manzanares for the first four years of private practice. He then ventured out on his own. Judge Harrell is widely known for his devotion as a mentor to attorneys and law students throughout Denver. Through efforts such as the Thursday Morning Breakfast Group, support of specialty bar associations and Inns of Court, and teaching at local and national conferences, Judge Harrell consistently promotes and demonstrates excellence in his chosen profession. His community activities are devoted to the betterment of society.
